This paper investigates the importance of second-generation immigrant writing in America and England. The main focus is on a theoretical framework concerning the most typical features in migrant literature and on a literary analysis of Lahiri's collection "Interpreter of Maladies" and Ali's famous novel "Brick Lane".

Based on some common structural features of known compounds interfering with p53 pathways and our previously synthesized benzamides, we synthesized new ethyl 5-(4-substituted benzamido)-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylates 26a-c, ethyl 5-(4-substituted benzamido)-1-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylates 27a-c and N-(1H-indazol-6-yl)-4-substituted benzamides 31a,b bearing in the 4 position of the benzamido moiety the 2-phenylpropanamido or 2-phenoxyacetamido or cinnamamido groups. Resumen El propósito de este estudio fue analizar la incidencia de las prácticas verdes como impulsoras para generar confianza, satisfacción y lealtad en los huéspedes. Para ello, a partir de una muestra de 302 huéspedes de hoteles en Bogotá, Colombia, se estimó un modelo de ecuaciones estructurales a través de la regresión de mínimos cuadrados parciales. Los resultados obtenidos evidencian que las prácticas sostenibles contribuyen al aumento de la confianza y la satisfacción de los huéspedes, y que estas, a su vez, influyen positivamente en su lealtad hacia el hotel. Lead optimization through VLAK protocol: New annelated pyrrolo-pyrimidine derivatives as antitumor agents

Abstract The chemometric protocol VLAK was applied to predict improvement of the biological activity of pyrrolo-pyrimidine derivatives as anticancer agents, by using the NCI ACAM Database as depository of antitumor drugs with a known mechanism of action. Among the selected compounds two of these showed a good increase in the antitumor activity. These new pyrrolo-pyrimidine compounds were demonstrated effective against the full panels of NCI DTP tumour human cell lines. This paper describes a tool with supporting methodology for efficient teacher assisted marking of open assignments based on student answer ranking metrics. It includes a methodology for how to design tasks for markability. This improves marking efficienty and reduces cognitive strain for the teacher during marking, and also allows for easily giving feedback to students on common pitfalls and misconceptions to improve both the learning outcome for the students as well as the teacher’s productivity by reducing the time needed for marking open assignments. This study investigated the possible anti-inflammatory and chondroprotective effects of a combination of celecoxib and prescription-grade glucosamine sulfate (GS) in human osteoarthritic (OA) chondrocytes and their possible mechanism of action.
